Ghost on the Shore is part walking sim and part mystery. You can easily sink in 12+ hours if you want to find every secret, and see each ending. In my opinion, the game is absolutely a fair price for the amount of content and replayability it offers. I got the ending Eternal Love - and plan to go back and play for other endings.

A full playthrough with a lot of exploration took me 4.5 hours. I also understand why they did this, because your choices from the very beginning of the game determine which ending you're going towards. After walking through the areas, I can understand how someone could easily get lost. They wanted to make the story more streamlined, and sometimes, people got confused about where to go next. BUT, the developers did explain why they did this, and it makes sense. Cannot go back to previous areas if you've missed collectibles. You easily get attached to characters, and get to know them on very deep levels Cons: Graphics are unique, and in a beautiful painterly style that makes you want to look at everything Collectibles! Completely optional, but adds a fun aspect to the game. If you're someone who loves a good story and loves to read through letters and as you collect, builds a journal full of details that you build and build the more you go back again and again, this is for you. I want to dive back in and explore more of the islands. Then I found out I didn't even discover all the tapes and letters. Why was it not on any maps, why was it just left to ruin? I know part of it but I feel there is always just a little more. Even after I finished my first playthrough, I had more questions about the island. The islands themselves each have their own characters and stories that tell of a place full of deceit, drama, and is haunted by its history. A game that welcomes you to explore each location to your hearts content and engages your curiosity. A story that hooks you from the start and has you asking questions with every new piece of the puzzle you find. Play it!Įver since the demo, this has been on my list as I waited for this to finally come out. Oh, and one more thing, the ending is phenomenal. If i had to give a negative i would probably say that the movement system didn't feel very satisfying and maybe the lenght of the game but thats just me wanting more. There's alot more to say but overall i highly recommend playing it, it even has a really good soundtrack. You keep everything you find written or drawn in a notebook you have and slowly you'll learn about what happened on the island and about what happened to the voice. You'll mostly be reading or talking to the voice but theres also casettes and visions. Theres also a great way of story telling. On top of a great intro, a nice style and great dialogue, the story is amazing. The visuals are really nice with its own unique style. The interactions between the main character and the voice are amazing and evolve constantly. During the game you learn more about him and the islands you're on. You start on your boat when you suddenly hear a voice of a man.
Ghost on the Shore had me hooked in the first 5 minutes with a great intro and a bunch of questions. But the music here is extremely well done and it actually adds to the game. Sometimes answers to questions would time out far-too quickly.Įven with all the excellent voice acting there is still a lot of reading.įrequent referencing the journal is the best way to make sense of the stories and characters as you progress through the game.Ĭan't say enough about the audio because normally the first thing I change in any game is to turn off music. The art style has a very-carefully designed aesthetic that deliberately shows just enough detail to look wonderful, and by not overloading you visually, it let's your imagination wander. The story itself is rich with lore, history and filled with individual's perspectives.
The vocals, sounds, and ambiance is top notch. This is a game for people who enjoy experiencing a game and taking a journey.Įxtremely well polished game that encourages simple exploration through a mysterious landscape while gathering clues and stories to piece together the bigger picture.
